Bee's wrap to replace cellophane

Glass jars (Pyrex) 

Glass or stainless steel kettles rather than potentially harmful plastic kettles

Paper or glass baking moulds (available in Canada) to replace silicone, which can be toxic at high temperatures. 

Cast iron frying pans and casseroles


Avoid using Teflon-coated pans or cake pans. Teflon is the registered trademark of polytetrafluoroethylene. At high temperatures, it can release toxic, endocrine disrupting chemicals such as PFOA or PFOS that are banned in Canada.

Prefer glass jars and Bee's wrap to plastic packaging (cellophane, Tupperware...).

Replace the plastic in your environment with less toxic materials. In the kitchen, for utensils subject to heat, choose cast iron, glass or paper.

Materials to avoid

  • Aluminium: neurotoxique, sensibilisant cutané
  • Bisphénol A (BPA): perturbateur endocrinien
  • Phtalate: irritant possible pour la peau, les yeux et les voies respiratoires
  • Plastiques: peuvent contenir des hydrocarbures, phtalates et du bisphénol A qui sont des perturbateurs endocriniens
  • Polytétrafluoroéthylène (Teflon): peut dégager des composés perturbateurs endocriniens
